Organic Roots, or Roots, as I like to refer to it, is a Temecula Valley grocery store filled with diet-friendly options, organic and naturally grown produce, farm-raised meat, and packaged items with minimal ingredients. When my family took a turn from national grocery stores to locally grown and non-preservative foods, Organic Roots became our favorite spot.
For how many times we shopped and browsed, we didn't pay much attention to the sandwich bar, hot food, or cafe, which I deeply regret now. Recently, we have found ourselves gravitating toward helping ourselves to hot food or ordering a custom burrito bowl. Each time, we are blown away by the quality of the meats and veggies, comforted by the savory flavors, and walk away happy and full.
The staff is bustling with food preparation, boiling and sautéing, and helping the patrons with questions and orders. With all the work that they put in, they always have smiles on their faces and are engaging with us as they prepare the food. The food kitchen is clean and filled with locally grown produce, showing full transparency on how the ingredients are formulated to ensure great taste and the freshest picks.
Today, I had a burrito bowl with Spanish rice, steak, potatoes, guacamole, cilantro and lime sour cream, and some white cheddar cheese. Their burrito bowls never disappoint, and are fully customizable to fit the palate or diet of any customer. Every bite is packed with flavor and pure ingredients, making it a guilt-free yet delicious lunch!
My husband ordered the Wicked Pastrami panini, just the way it is, because it is perfect!
All of their sandwiches use vegannaise, which is perfect for me and my unfortunate anaphylactic egg allergy, so I was ecstatic when the helpful employee informed me that I could enjoy a sandwich as well!
The Wicked Pastrami includes vegannaise, baby arugula, jalapenos, pepperoncinis, and of course, fresh pastrami. My husband and son love to share this panini, and it looked irresistible. The panini is quickly pressed between two grates, then put into the oven to finish heating the contents without burning the bread. The toasting of the bread was to perfection- soft enough to bite through yet crunchy enough to add a crisp.
The cafe and salad bar are my next adventure, and I am curious to try a specialty cafe item and pastry - egg-free - that will satisfy my caffeine and chocolate kick! With my birthday coming up, I even considered requesting that my husband get a chocolate cake for my big day, but I may need a taste test beforehand! I am excited to enjoy some organic, sweet caramel coffee from their cafe soon, so stay tuned for the feedback! I am still on the hunt for my all-time favorite coffee spot!

After ordering your customized dish, Organic Roots’ newly renovated dining room is the perfect spot to eat with family, catch up with friends, or just enjoy a meal to relax after running errands. Sunflowers coat the walls, with natural lighting and comfortable boothed tables keep it intimate and cozy. Plenty of seating for any sized group is available for every occasion. My family has determined it to be the best, most efficient, and most pleasant lunch spot for us and our toddler!
